ANNOUNCING THE IMMIGRATION FILM FESTIVAL!

In order to accomodate all the ticket sales, this event has been moved to a new location.  All viewings are sold out.  Thanks to everyone in the community for your interest.

The Diversity Club at Billings Middle School is hosting an Immigration Film Festival as a fund-raiser to support student involvement in important conferences and other public forums in the U.S. and internationally.  It is important for young people to be involved with people around the world who are interested in solving problems that affect our cultures, economies and environments.

In the past, students at Billings have presented at and/or prepared presentations for the following conferences:  UNESCO Conference on Education for Sustainable Development; National Science Teachers Association;  Environmental Educators Association of Washington; Washington State Council for the Social Studies; Northwest Biodiesel Forum; World Affairs Council; etc.  Coming up in 2009, students will prepare presentations for the Children’s World Water Forum in Turkey and the International Education and Resource Network Conference in Morocco.  With grant-funding students have also hosted four public forums on sustainability issues.

We will be showing three great narrative films in the Great Hall, as follows:

7:00 pm Thursday, Feb. 5th:  The Visitor - this viewing sold out!

2:00 pm Saturday, Feb. 7th:  Bread and Roses - this viewing sold out!

7:00 pm Saturday, Feb. 7th:  The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada - this viewing sold out!

$8 per film, or $20 for the series!  Contact us at this email if you want to buy tickets in advance; those with advance tickets will be seated first, beginning a half hour before showtimes.  These films are suitable for adults and some teens 13 and older.  Please check out film reviews online.

Any amount that you donate beyond the above amount is tax-deductible.  We will be prepared to give you a donation receipt at the door.

Please view and circulate (widely!) the attached flyer
