About Admissions
Billings exposes me to things I would never have tried on my own. It helps me create the life I want to live.
~ Hannah, Alumna '05
Thank you for your interest in Billings Middle School. For the past ten years, Billings has been providing families with an exemplary educational experience. Since our founding in 1996, we have established a unique, wide-reaching campus in partnership with the park and commercial businesses at Green Lake and have been recognized nationally for our innovative work with middle school students.
As we have grown, so has the breadth of our programs and the diversity of our student body. Last year alone, we received applications representing students from 32 different elementary schools throughout the city and eastside.
Our website is a great introduction to the programs and innovations at Billings. The best way to see the school first hand is to attend one of our three Open Houses. There, you’ll get a chance to meet our Head of School, attend model classes and talk with students, parents and members of the faculty.
Our admissions process is not “by the numbers.” We spend a great deal of time getting to know each applicant and their family. That’s why we invite applicants for a full day visit to the school and our Head of School meets with each applicant family. We believe that everyone who comes into contact with Billings will learn something new about middle school education.
Great candidates for Billings are students who are capable of grade level work and beyond, who are interested in learning, and who demonstrate the capacity for responsibility and active community advocacy. Just as important, we look for families who are thoughtfully involved in their child’s education, who are open to the possibilities and challenges of early adolescence, and who will make a positive contribution to the school community.
We're looking forward to meeting you this fall. Please don't hesitate to contact me to request an application or with any questions as you progress through our admissions process!
