“Billings creates a safe space for kids to be who they are.
Every day, I see examples of the ways kids are unafraid
to approach teachers with the challenges and details of their lives.”
-- Tom Strouse, Billings Teacher

As parents, we look forward to the day when our children grow into independent, strong and fully functioning adults. Choosing an educational path that maximizes their opportunities for success is key to fulfilling that vision. There are many wonderful schools throughout the Pacific Northwest, and we are pleased that Billings Middle School is part of your search. Our approach to admissions is as unique as our students.
We get to know students and their families during an admissions process that emphasizes personal exchange. It starts with in open invitation to attend an Open House. Later in the process, we require all applying students to attend a Visit Day and immerse them in the Billings culture for a day. Billings families find that the observation and engagement they experience during the admission process continues for most of the middle school experience.
At the heart of our admissions process is a deep commitment to creating a dynamic cohort of students. Each year, we assemble a group of pre-adolescents who are “under construction” during their three years with us. Together, they will be growing and working as learners, as teachers and as human beings.
Our school’s mission is to create an environment in which each child cultivates his or her individual gifts. Through our unique Advisory Program, Billings faculty strive to support academic and personal discovery every day of the school year.
What does it take to be successful at Billings? The basic raw materials include intellectual spark, curiosity, a willingness to address challenges, openness to that which is different, and a supportive family who form a strong team with their student’s teachers. From my perspective, these are the qualities that make Billings students so great at communicating who they are to the world well beyond middle school.

I look forward to meeting you!
