As Head of School, I take tremendous pride in the way that Billings creates unique opportunities for our students and parlays these experiences in ways that facilitate profound growth. In the past year, I have talked with 8th graders conducting pure research on the atmosphere and watched them applying their work around the world. I’ve seen 7th graders define and design sustainable micro-businesses. I’ve traveled with students of all ages to New Orleans to gut houses, distribute supplies, start a community garden and mitigate, in some small way, the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Experiences like these make our students strong applicants to high schools and powerful advocates for positive change.
